Outfitter Satellite offers voice and broadband internet solutions for marine users. If you are visiting the polar regions, we recommend Iridium equipment. The BEAM PotsDock can be used with an external antenna so that your Iridium 9555 or Iridium 9575 satellite phone can operate below decks. The PotsDock has an RJ-11 phone port for use with conventional corded or cordless phone equipment. An optional privacy handset is available. Iridium data is only 2400 bps, but it is suitable for light email applications or if necessary downloading weather maps. The docking station also has GPS features (GPS antenna not included) and optional GPS tracking services are available. If you need 3 voice lines and data speeds up to 134 kbps, choose the Iridium Pilot broadband terminal.
If you are staying in the tropical and temporal areas of the globe, consider Inmarsat. Inmarsat is the gold standard of marine communications. It uses geosynchronous satellites so call drops are very unusual. Inmarsat now offers the Inmarsat GSPS IsatPhone PRO handheld satellite phone which can be docked and used below decks in an IsatDock MARINE. Bluetooth is supported, and standard phone equipment can be connected to the docking station. Optional GPS tracking services are available. The data rate is fairly slow, so if broadband internet access is needed, choose an Inmarsat FleetBroadband (FBB) terminal. For information on Inmarsat FBB, please call us.
